2) Body Build Date E19 E corresponds to December, and the 19 is the nineteenth day of the month meaning this Corvette's body build date is December 19, 1970.
Engine Code V0910 V means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant. The 09 is the ninth month of year and the 10 is the tenth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on September 10, 1970. This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car.
Suffix Code CJL This means the motor was intended for a 350ci 270hp Corvette with a manual transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 104556 The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 104556, are stamped on the engine pad and pictured below meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010 The engine block has a correct 3790010 casting number a small block 1971 Corvette.
Engine Block Casting Date H 6 0 H is August, the 6 is the sixth day of the month, and the 0 is the last digit of the calendar year so the engine block was cast on August 6, 1970. Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1112050 The distributor is correct and original with a 1112050 stamping on the band.
Distributor Date Code 0 J 3 The 0 is the last digit of the calendar year, the J denotes September, and 3 is the third day of the month meaning the distributor was made on September 3, 1970. This is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Exterior Color Code 983 The code 983 indicates Brands Hatch Green.
Interior Trim Code 403 The code 403 indicates black leather.

The T is the December month of the year and the 10 is the tenth day of the month. The A is a suffix letter that indicates the gear ratio, 2.52:1 Wide Ratio. So this is a Muncie Wide Ratio 4-Speed transmission that was assembled on December 10, 1970.

Bell Housing 3899621 The bell housing has the correct 3899621 casting number.
Rear Differential LR W 336 E1 The LR indicates a 3.36:1 axle ratio with positraction. The W is the plant code where the rear end was made. The 336 is the 336th day of the year. The E is the source of the positraction, Eaton, and the 1 is the shift so the rear differential was made on December 2, 1970 in Warren, MI during the first shift.
Exterior: The Red exterior is in great driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a great finish and no curb rash. The Goodyear Eagle tires have about 80 tread left. The chrome and other bright work shows well overall for a driver. The car has a big block style hood with with a black trimmed center section and red pinstripe that looks great on the car. There are a few blemishes around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. There is a blemish in the paint on the left front fender with a specific photo below and and an area on the right door. The underside of the car is clean the frame is totally solid around the key hole area in front of the rear tire. We have included many photos of the underside to show how good it looks.
Interior: The black interior of the Corvette is in good condition. The seats look just in person just as they do in the photos. There is some wear in the typical area where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is in nice condition as well with no holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The radio works and most importantly it is a Corvette Specific unit made fro this car so the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The dash is in great shape with no fading or sun damage, there is one little crack on the right speaker grill that was too small to show up in the photos. The jack and spare are no longer with the car.
Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time and runs well. The car is a great driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. The car runs cool and does not overheat. The transmission shifts well, does not pop out of gear, and the shifter is tight. The clutch feels good. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine compartment is clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. The air conditioning works and blows cold. The blower motor for the a/c and heater works on all speeds. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock and the oil pressure gauge. The speedometer works, but the odometer does not. Some of the fiber optic system works. The headlights work, but the vacuum for the headlights and wipers does not work. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with T-tops out on a beautiful day.
A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common.
Overall Condition: Overall, this 1971 Corvette is in very nice driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see, this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, transmission assembly date, and transmission VIN stamp. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. BiN $20,900 (Ended) on March 14, 2017. Sold for $19,900 on April 4, 2017.
